Text Box: INNOVATIVE INTERVENTIONAL PAIN TREATMENTS

Advanced Interventional Pain Center is all about innovative procedures. Innovative procedures were independently developed by the pain center to provide maximum safety and absolutely NO COMPLICATIONS. Innovative Procedures were individually conceptualized and developed by Pattanam Srinivasan, M.D (Dr. Srini) within Advanced Interventional Pain Center without the involvement of other physicians or institutions.

Translaminar Delivery of Epidural Medications Using Fine Needles

Epidural Medications are conventionally delivered using a large loss of resistance needle. Using such a large needle even under radiographic control can result in the needle entering the intrathecal space and resulting in spinal fluid leakage (CSF) resulting in a spinal headache. Using a large needle can also cause bleeding within the epidural space in patients who are anti-coagulated and may result in paralysis.

At Advanced Interventional Pain Center, spinal needles are used to deliver epidural medications precisely into the epidural space. This method was independently developed by the pain center, not reported in literature yet and has been in use since 2005. Using image guidance precise delivery of epidural medications are done with confirmed epidurogram 100% of the times! Across the board all our patients receive complete resolution of radiculitis (pain in the legs or arms) following this treatment. Up to 8 months to 1 year or more of pain relief can received from radiculitis using this method.

Delivery of Epidural Medications by Extra Foraminal Placement of Fine Needles

This is another innovative method employed by our pain center to deliver epidural medications by the placement of spinal needles outside the epidural space and is different from the transforaminal route where the needle still enters the epidural space. By precise placement of the spinal needle in the nerve sheath outside the spinal canal epidural medications are driven into the epidural space although the needle stays outside it! This method was independently developed by the pain center, not reported in literature yet and has been in use since 2006. Using image guidance, precise delivery of epidural medications are done with confirmed epidurogram 100% of the times! This method has great significance in delivering epidural medications in the anti-coagulated. These patient do not need to stop their anti-coagulation as the needles are outside the epidural space, therefore there is no risk of epidural bleeding!

Development of Laser Treatments for Pain Conditions

Our pain center has developed a new laser device that can selectively ablate C pain fibers, a first in the world minimally invasive device of its kind. The process called LILA™ or Low Intensity Laser Ablation selectively destroys C pain fibers through self absorption of the laser by C pain fibers and self destruction. About 30 patients have undergone treatments at our pain center with long lasting pain relief. This patent pending medical technology is yet to be FDA approved and is available only at Advanced Interventional Pain Center. Treatments are offered on a select patient by patient basis for clinical data collection. The clinical trial is registered with clinicaltrials.goV . Patients shall bear the charges for treatment and research. To enquire please call 317-641-5183
